2. High Fidelity (2000)
Everybody has films that mean something special to them, or that are so relevant that you can’t help but love them. High Fidelity is mine. It is among my absolute favourite films because it feels real. Everybody has been dumped or heartbroken. John Cusack as Rob Gordon is pitch perfect, playing a combination of indignant emotional pain and sardonic wit to mask a deeply flawed character. The characters in this film aren’t perfect, they make mistakes, but it reminds you that even if you do fuck up, everything can still be alright. For that reason, I love it. Very funny, touching at times, and the soundtrack is one of the best I’ve come across.
